You're Getting a Baby Brother

Let's give a big shout! Let's all celebrate!

Your new brother is coming, and that's really great.

It's very exciting. Your family will grow!

But before you start cheering,  there are a few things you should know.

Baby brothers are small. Baby brothers are cute.

But they can be a pain —— and that is the truth.

Your brother will poop. He will spit. He will cry.

And you'd better watch out —— or he'll pee in your eye!

When you cuddle up with your favorite bear, your brother will grab it. He expects you to share!

You'll have to take turns. Does he know how to play?

No, he does not. He just gets in the way.

If you build your blocks up, he may knock them right down. And your brother will smile, while you sit there and frown.

It doesn't seem fair. You were first; this is true.

It isn't his fault though. He hasn't learned what to do.

He needs you to protect him. Teach him all that you know. Show him patience and love —— he's just starting to grow.

And if he grows up, watching all that you do, surely he'll be amazing —— for he'll be just like you!
